Out on the patio recreating a slice of Australiana

A fun project styling sets to recreate 70s Australiana interiors for ‘Hoges’ a Freemantle Media production for Channel Nine about Australia’s favourite larrikin Paul Hogan.

Client: Freemantle Media for Channel Nine production

A dream job re-creating a slice of Australiana

Paul ‘Hoges’ Hogan was married at 18 with 5 kids and went on the television show ‘New Faces’ as a dare from work mates and went on to become a pop culture icon, thanks to the movie Crocodile Dundee. As a culture junkie, it was a dream-come-true when Freemantle Media approached us to style sets for Channel Nine’s production ‘Hoges’ the mini-series, tracing the career highs and lows of Australia’s favourite larrikin.

What success looked like in the 70s

The brief included styling and sourcing props for 14 different sets – from the poolside patio through to the games room. The interiors reflected Hoges at the peak of his career. Extravagant mansion for Hollywood star, meets Aussie Family.

To create the interiors we had to source original vintage pieces sunshine yellow fringed floral beach umbrella, Flokarti rugs and wallpapers and yes!! ceramic Jaguars. We can’t say it wasn’t ridiculously fun styling the indoor conservatory garden and the integrated aquarium, did we say this was work?
